Description
Your dream player with flawless, true-to-life picture quality and the ability to play virtually any disc! The Philips DVD player delivers your movies and music entertainment experience. 12-bit Video DAC is a superior Digital-to-Analogue-Converter that preserves every detail of the authentic picture quality. It shows subtle shades and smoother graduation of colors, resulting in a more vibrant and natural picture. The limitation of the usual 10bit DAC becomes in particular apparent while using large screens and projectors. The 192KHz sampling enables you to have an accurate representation of the original sound curves. Together with a 24-bit resolution, more information is captured from the original analogue sound wave form, giving a much richer audio reproduction.

there is reason why this is happening a list of other electronics that have failed and broke. Seagate FreeAgent(Makes Clicking Noises and Brakes)5 of them I went through there will be more to the list give it time Because the economy is bad they where able to Invented a chip that was designed to brake.we are working on campaign.to bring this problem to awareness about this illegal ship there putting into electronic over in china.the sooner it brakes and the soon you buy a new one. but because this chip is being manufactured over in another country its not illegal for them to make it in another country.but if its sold in the USA. it could be Illegal, the Chinese are responsible for this programmable chip in witch there putting into products, the Seagate FreeAgent was made and designed for who ever use more then 500gb it would automatically brake.the reason why they designed it to brake was because of Torrent websites where people are download content Illegal and putting it on there hard drive.so they have designed it to brake where you would loose every thing you have saved, you will see in the next couple of years why more things are braking and poorly made.and sold for more money. Kinda what Martha Stuart did she sold bad things to people. she did not tell the people her stock was going down and she illegally sold it. but she went to jail because she did it on American soil. The consumer Electronics are going to brake more often and they are suppose to report the Illegal shipping there putting into millions of the electronics.the DVD players that where made before the year 2002 will live for the next 40 years.the TVs that where made in the 1970s they lasted for 40 years the TVs that has clock dial channel changer. a lot of you remember this.the only way to stop this from happening is to contact your local government bring this corruption to there attention.the only way to stop them from selling in the USA is to have 3 strikes and your out.so if foreign company's that brake the trade agreement rules more then 3 times they would not be allows to sell in the USA. Trade rules must be obeyed by USA Trade rules.
My first up-conversion player and for the price and it seems fine thus far. I've only had it for a few days so I can't tell you how reliable the player will be. I've bought other Philips DVD players and they generally die with in a couple years or less, but for the price and being able to play both Pal & NTSC dvd's I feel they are worth it. To make multi-region just open the disc tray, press Setup then go to the Preferences menu and enter 138931 on the remote control, then you'll be able to choose any region but choosing 0 will play all of your worldly dvd's, so you won't have to change it for each dvd. As for picture & sound quality they are quite nice. Other complaints about the remote or loading have not been a problem for me. The player is light and slim set up is also easy. The player does get quite hot though. Bottom line if you're looking for a affordable up-conversion player this seems like a good one to me, I'm quite happy with it.
This is the (worst) dvd player I ever had, the worst product I ever had period! I went thru the settings a thousand times as I couldn't believe anything could be so bad, bad picture, bad sound. I had everything correct, even customized for my HD tv, all to no avail, grainy pic, rotten sound-it scared me at first cause I thought it broke my tv speakers it was so bad. Do not buy, unless you want to see the worst product ever released on the human race.
I purchased the Philips DVP3980 after reading other reviews. I have had no problems with it after one month of use. People wrote about problems with the remote. It seems to start slowly, but is fine after it's on. The player shuts itself off after a few minutes on pause. When you hit on or play it resumes wher you let off. My old player would not. Had a little noise/disc hum when I first ran it. This went away after a couple of days. I'm happy with the product. Picture quality is good. Sound clear. Would recommend.
I enjoy this slim DVD player, the video quality is excellent even upon close inspection. I can relive my old DVD movies again! It's easy to use straight out of the box. It has an LED display. I also played discs from different regions and it works. It's easy to enable all-region, no need for code hacks. Amazon's prices can't be beat! 5 Stars!
